Title: US Head, Market Access

SUMMARY OF RELEVANT JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

As a key member of the US Commercial Leadership team (COLT), the US Head Market Access will help prepare the company’s first product launches in the US. This position reports to the Senior VP Head US Commercial. The Exec Director VP Market Access will be responsible for pricing, the development and maintenance of Payer accounts within the commercial, government and other reimbursement market segments. The position will develop reimbursement services, including the patient services Hub to ensure that health care providers and patients will have unimpeded access to our products and services. This leader will be an integral member of the team developing the corporate and product(s) value proposition. The US Head Market Access will achieve this by educating payers as they make medical policy decisions.  This includes education on the value our assets provide Payers and their patients and our competitive position relative to alternatives.   The role will have the overall responsibility for selecting and managing third party vendors responsible for the delivery of support programs.  Primary responsibilities also include the development of policies that govern the support programs, internal / external training, budgeting and forecasting of program costs. Initially charged with hiring at least 6 direct reports with growth as dictated by launch timelines and commercial opportunity.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Responsible and accountable for the successful implementation of the Market Access strategic and tactical plan.
  • Collaborate with internal and external colleagues to ensure product access across multiple payer segments.
  • Hire and develop a Payer-facing Team who are the “single point of contact” for their respective Sales Management and sales representative teams about coverage updates: National and Regional Health Plans (Commercial, Medicare Part D, and/or Managed Medicaid segment), Medicaid and clinical pathway updates.
  • Develop and cultivate important and influential relationships with cross-functional business partners and stakeholders.
  • Work closely with Regulatory, Legal and other partners/stakeholders to ensure fully compliant practices, policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with the Finance team to estimate and then track program costs and forecast operational expenses.
  • Lead presentations and develop materials for training for the internal Payer Teams and Sales and Marketing teams as needed.
  • Set appropriate metrics and KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) to help monitor and measure results performance.
  • Attend outside meetings, conferences or events, as appropriate, to stay abreast of national, local and/or regional changes, trends or other activities (including legislative and regulatory changes) that may impact the position or the provision of the patient support programs/Hub.
  • Build the Patient Services Hub to ensure providers are educated on patient service offerings, which include Co-Pay and Patient Assistance programs.

 

Professional Experience/Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required. Advanced degree in a relevant field preferred.
  • 10 years of relevant industry experience in biotech/pharma. Must possess recent and significant experience in managed markets/brand marketing.
  • Recent experience in Pharma/Biotech launch preferred. Oncology experience a must. Rare Disease experience a plus
  • Product launch experience
  • Excellent skills in oral and written communication
  • Strong computer skills (e.g., Word, Excel, Project Management software, etc.)
